Imagine it is XX years from now (5, 10, 15 or 20). Someone is visiting the community for the first time (or returning after leaving in what is today your present time). Along the way, the person meets residents, merchants, and other people you consider to be important to the fabric of the community. The visitor also meets a local historian, who tells the visitor how your community went from what it was to what it is (in your future)? Later, the visitor tells friends about the trip.
Questions to help you develop the story: • What would you want the visitor to tell friends about your community? • What did the visitor see, hear, or sense while he or she was in your community? • What is the same (or better) in the community in the future? What’s different? • What did the residents, merchants or others say to the visitor? • Imagine that there is a banner at the entrance to your community. It has the city’s slogan. What does it say?

Hackensack Creative Team Community Coaching Session 5, Thursday, April 9th, 6-8 pm Johnson Public Library
AGENDA Session goals: *Finalize a draft vision statement to share with the public *Determine strategies for public outreach *Begin moving on the ideas you most want to see happen.
Items: *Develop draft vision statement. I took the liberty of creating a draft statement as a starting point. But since they are your words, you should feel free as a group to present them as you wish.
*Strategies for sharing and enhancing vision. Let's plan out our public meetings, focus groups and surveys. *What can we start doing now? Pick at least one item from the vision list, and let's explore how to make it happen (or make more of it happen). *Preparing for mapping. About our next session on April 30 (please bring comfortable shoes for that one). *Open conversation. Bring up any topics, issues, concerns, kudos that you think your colleagues should know about.

Writing the plan this summer and completing this work in the fall. We'll also talk about enhancing public engagement and motivating key audiences. 2. Continuing the team's work after coaching ends in the fall. What are the best ways to maintain the team, keep up momentum, and bring on additional people to support the mission and vision? 3.
